October 11th, 2018

Hello everyone! Mom and I just spent the last ten minutes waiting for our blogging software to behave with our computer. It’s still having a hard time, so I guess this is going to have to be short. Maybe Mom will have enough time after she gets out of work tomorrow to work on it. I write this the night before we post, so it’s time to go to bed soon.
It has been a pretty quiet week. The trees have been changing. I was going to share a picture, but the picture currently won’t upload to Dropbox. A tree outside of Mom’s not-retail job is a lovely color of orange. I asked her to take a picture of it before we left today. She posted it to Instagram because we thought it was so pretty.
I will try to convince her to fix this tomorrow afternoon, but if we don’t, I’ll share the pretty picture next time!

January 22nd, 2015

So we’re writing this at the end of December. It’s all part of Mom’s plan to make sure that we keep on writing entries. But that means that we’re going to take three weeks to tell you all that we got a new computer for Christmas! It’s got a touch screen that Mom needs to train herself to actually use. It runs Windows 10, which we’re hesitantly all right with.
It means that we got to update to the newest version of Windows Live Writer. It’s open source, and finally updated! The orginial Windows Live Writer hadn’t been updated since 2012, which is practically ancient in the computer world. We’ve only started playing with it, but it’s behaving just as the old version did. So if you’ve got a brand new computer, this version is worth it! (At least right now!) Although Mom can’t get the spell check button to do anything but be grayed out. Hm. Maybe we spoke too soon!
2015-12-26 Foster
Well, this entry is really about Foster. Foster is my older brother. He was named after a character in a Joseph Conrad short story called Amy Foster! (Just like me!) We’re both Sterling promotional matrix bears. I came from a gardening store, but Foster was found at Goodwill. I was really glad when Mom found him. I did miss him a lot.
His favorite color is yellow. He says that he likes it because it’s bright! He likes leaves that turn bright yellow in the fall, and rubber ducks! He also likes sunflowers and yellow tulips! He likes playing cars with me, and will help the tinies move big things around. He would really like to meet Big Bird someday—he’s a bird and he’s yellow, so that makes Foster really happy!
Talk to you all next week!

One of the many things Mom does instead of helping me with my blog is play on Pinterest. I thought if I wanted to write about some of the teddy and doll related boards Mom follows she would stop pinning and help me type! She says that she will try!

2013-11-29 21.31.02

For the people who don’t spend tons of time online like Mom, Pinterest is a way to collect pictures, links, and other visual things in a way so you can admire the pictures later. You organize things into boards, and follow other people with like interests.

Mom mostly follows boards that have something to do with her biggest interests, reading, dogs, and her latest obsession, an actor from Sherlock, the BBC TV show. There are a few teddy boards mixed in there though! This one is one of them!

2013-11-29 Pinterest Capture 01

Here is another board. I think it’s amazing how people can gather to share pictures and information about hobbies on the internet! Who would’ve thought there would be so many boards on teddies alone!

2013-11-29 Pinterest Capture 02

Another dolly thing that Mom likes to look at on Pinterest is the American Girl stuff. Someday, Mom hopes to make more pretty clothes for all of us. She’s amazed by the wonderful work that is out there.

2013-11-29 Pinterest Capture 03

Are there any boards that you follow that are interesting? Mom and I are open to all sorts of ideas!

Happy late Thanksgiving for our fellow American friends—Mom says that when you work retail, you should be happy that you remember to wish anyone anything during this season, so I’m happy with one day late! We hope you're all having a good month! I hope to write more soon!

Later,

tn_2011-07-20 Summer (7)

My mom has been spending her time online doing other things then helping me update my blog. She says that some of humans who read my blog will understand the appeal, although I’m not quite sure.

A long time ago—well, at least a few years ago, Mom’s grandma was moved into an assisted living place. Her mom and dad found a packet of photocopied bible pages—of her dad’s family. All the way to her great-grandparents. She went to a website called MyHeritage.com and started entering the information. Soon, through her grandfather’s mother, she got literally thousands of relatives that lived in Europe—mostly the Netherlands. Through a little work using US Census records and googling, she’s expanded her family on all sides. (It turns out that she’s distantly related to a bunch of Quakers! And that her Mom’s side is mostly English!)

So she’s been using a program that came with the website and been adding people ever since. I don’t know if you can see the landing page, but here is the fruits of my mom’s online time. It seems to just sap up all sorts of time. She says that it will change once the weather’s not so hot and humid outside. (She admits she’s a bit of a wuss when it comes to the humidity!)

I think that she ought to do my genealogy, but she says that she doesn’t know where in China I came from. I know I came from a gardening store nearby, but she says that’s not where I was born. Maybe she can google that!

On an unrelated note, a few days ago, my mom used her nook-color to look up her sister’s name. Her book (which we knew about) is finally available as an ebook!

tn_2011-07-28 Sam's Book on my Nook (5)

It’s called Medea in the Waters. Mom says that it is not a book for small bears or children. (It’s a link to amazon.com, since the place she bought it doesn’t do international stuff.) It’s supposed to be available as a paper book soon, but Mom bought it for herself anyways.

Talk to you all later!

July 17th, 2011

I have been helping my mom check her social networking profiles today. She showed me Beanie Mouse’s profile, Tat and Tat 2’s profile, and Miranda Ixie’s profile. I was wondering if you all thought that I should get a Facebook profile. I don’t really spend a lot of time online doing things for me—it’s usually watching Mom do her online thing! But I obviously would have plenty of friends to talk to—maybe I’d have more friends then Mom does! (That’s already happened on my twitter page!)

I couldn’t figure out a picture to put on here—so Mom and I decided that a bulldog picture is always apropos no matter what I write about!

June 30th, 2011

My mom received a new computer for her birthday—well, she received help buying a new computer for her birthday. She says that this will allow us to post more. Fred, our old computer, is old and cranky—and the USB ports are naughty. So the mouse doesn’t work and the webpages freeze—along with a half dozen other problems. Right now, Mom and I are still playing around with it, downloading programs and setting things up. Tomorrow and Saturday she says we will post!

April 9th, 2011

I thought that my mom and I would have posted quickly after the last one, but it didn’t seem to happen. Sigh.
tn_2011-03-26 Fyodor_edited-1The new friend I wanted to tell you about is Fyodor. I thought I would mention him here in case any of you know what kind of bear he is. His tag says that he is a Ganz Heritage collection bear, but we haven’t been able to find out what his tag name is or anything like that. We even scoured ebay for the name and it didn’t come up.
A few days after that, Mom brought home a new Build-a-Bear friend. Her name is Wheat, and she is Shirley’s cousin.
tn_2011-03-26 Wheat_edited-1
Mom named her Wheat because one of our friends on Flickr, Neoguest, had brought home a sheep called Clover! We already have a friend named Clover here (she’s a Westie), so she came up with Wheat!
Mom and I are sorry that we haven’t been commenting on people’s posts lately. Fred, our computer, is getting old. When we upgraded to Firefox 4, we started to see that he was working very slowly when we wanted to go on the internet. So far Mom’s figured out one thing that seems to speed things up a little bit. She started telling me about memory and CPU and all sorts of things—and it was very confusing. She said that I can just think about what to have her type up on our blog posts and leave the computer worrying to her.
And Mom’s had a cold for the past couple days—and along with work things, she’s been a rather unhappy camper. Well, she’s been a rather cranky camper really. Fred-the-computer should be glad that she’s not prone to fits of temper! (That’s what Mom says!)
tn_2011-04-07 Plamann Park (46)I hope my mom feels better soon so she can take us outside! It’s the beginning of spring here in Wisconsin and there are plenty of brand new growing things to see! (That’s some moss!)
Talk to you all later!

January 18th, 2010

Today’s post is about another thing that has caused our previous lack of posting. My mom bought herself a nook-color for Christmas. It’s an e-reader that can sort of be a computer at the same time. She can check her mail, Facebook, etc. with it, but she doesn’t like to type too much because it is tedious. It doesn’t really cut down on my cuddling time, just posting time.

tn_2011-01-14 Marlowe and the Nook (3)

Sometimes, she lets me play with it. It’s much easier to use then her itouch for my big paws.

tn_2011-01-14 Marlowe and the Nook (5)

Some of the time, I like to look at our pretty pictures on it. It’s very clear—even more clear then our computer. Granted, our computer is from 2007 and the nook-color is brand new, so we don’t hold it against the computer!

tn_2011-01-14 Marlowe and the Nook (7)

Other times, I read books on it. Right now, Mom and I are reading a book on geology. It’s interesting how old the rocks are!

tn_2011-01-14 Marlowe and the Nook

And, of course, we have to check our email. We also like to search for words in books that we are interested in.

It’s a nifty device, but I am glad that Mom has returned to helping me blog!

December 11th, 2010

Hello everyone! Sorry that it’s been so long since I’ve blogged. Mom, who helps me type and such, has been very busy at work. It makes her tired, so we spend a lot of the time she’s not there just lounging around. Our computer is also having troubles communicating with the power cord.

Mom has two days coming in a row off, so maybe we can post some pictures then. We’ve got a lot to share!

I hope you’re all having a great holiday! I’m sure looking forward to Christmas! And my birthday is near then too—a Flickr friend of mine, Chunky van Monkey, had a birthday recently and got all sorts of nifty presents! He even got a great birthday hat! I’m hoping that Mom gets me one! Only time will tell. I will be back to regularly posting soon!

tn_2010-05-29 Comforting Mom_edited-1

My mom has been having a ‘Bad Time’. Things are mostly back to normal, but the threatening ghost of the ‘Bad Time’ is clouding things. We have spent a lot of time, in her room, trying not to get to ‘Worked Up’ over things we cannot control. I have been providing Mom a lot of moral support and she says that she is very glad that I am her bear. We have been through some tough times together, and she award me with my very own badge! She says that it is kind of like an online version of a trophy. I am glad she spent some time making me such a pretty thing! (She says that it is her Photoshop Elements skills for those people who know what she is talking about.)Cherished Companion Comfort Badge Marlowe_edited-3

She says that she will make a badge for anyone else if they would like one and are willing to message Mom. She can make it any color and can try to find a suitable clipart for you! She says that she likes sharing! We are going to go and have some quiet time!

tn_2009-11-01 Apples (6) Gosh, it’s so nice to have Fred-the-laptop back. Mom is in such a better mood when she’s got a a working computer to play with. She still glares at him occasionally, and saved her last homework assignment on her thumb-drive thing, but she’s getting better. I think she’ll feel a lot better with it all once she gets the portable hard-drive backup program working. Then she won’t worry about losing her work.

Tonight, after doing her homework, she was showing me how to add plug-ins on our Windows Live Writer. We’ve got our Wikipedia link plug-in and I picked a smiley one—but it’s broken. I will try to download another plug-in later.

This is a picture of some apples that grew on one of our trees out front. It was a little tree—probably no more than eight feet tall. It had the largest apples in the entire orchard! Mom took me outside to see them—they were the nicest colors. A lot of the other trees’ apples had worm holes in them. (No one sprays them for that sort of thing.) This tree’s apples were almost all perfect! We ate one—well, I had a little piece because I am a little bear and it was very good.

November 6th, 2009

Ta-da! I shall be posting again. Mom says that I am cursing the luck that we have had with our recovered computer, but I think she’s getting a bit paranoid! It turned out that our computer died because the hard drive failed. Most of her files were backed up on a portable hard drive, but it’s still kind of annoying. The laptop, whose name is Fred, is on Mom’s short list. I’m not quite sure what this means, but Mom seems to glare at it.

Not many interesting things have happened since my last post. Mom’s life has been revolving around school, getting her computer back, and work. I hope to post more pictures and the such. Mom did start a folder in Picasa account related to this blog about my friends. She only has a few pictures in there. As time progresses—and she has time at work and school, she’ll post more pictures!

I think that I ought to let her post this and go to bed. I’m awfully tired!

2009-10-31 Marlowe in New Track SuitMy  mom is typing this for me. I wrote it down on a piece of paper, and she brought it to work with her so she could send this in via her work’s internet connection. Mom’s laptop is still broken—and the one that we had used to post the last entry isn’t too happy either. Fortunately, Mom took her mom’s functioning laptop to work today—and now our Windows Live Writer is set up.

This is my new outfit. Mom bought it for me so I’d have something different to sleep in. It’s very nice and warm. The label on it said that it was a track suit. I’m not quite sure what I am supposed to be tracking, but Mom says that it doesn’t matter. I think it looks awfully spiffy! Mom didn’t take a picture of any of the girls wearing their new outfit—mostly because she hasn’t had the chance. It’s a very nice blue dress, but I like my track suit more!2009-10-28 Coffee

This is one of my new friends. He’s not a Build-a-Bear—he’s a Russ Berrie. We decided to post a picture of him because he looks a lot like a friend of ours named Behr. He has a blog that he shares with several other travel bears at New Mexico Travel Bear. My new bear’s name is Coffee. Mom thinks that Coffee is a little bit bigger then Behr, but they share the same maker! I’m glad that Coffee came to our home. He is from a thrift store. Mom rescued him along with another bear.

Mom will post more pictures later. She will at least post some of them to the Picasca site related to this blog. I don’t know when Mom’s computer will come back from the fixing shop, but I hope soon! I miss writing on my blog all the time! I also like reading other plushies’ blogs! I guess some good things have come with the lack of computer. We’ve been watching movies, reading more books, and talking a lot more. Mom says that it is good to break some of our dependence on the computer—but I’m not sure how much fun that is!

October 30th, 2009

I've been away for the week because my Mom's laptop is sick. It's at the computer fixing place right now. On Sunday, it decided that it wanted some time off-- or a trip to the computer fixing place, I guess. Mom says that she doesn't have the patience to make this blog entry pretty with pictures tonight. We're typing this on her mom's old laptop. Tomorrow, Mom says that she will download the Windows Live Writer thing onto her USB memory thing and we can write a nicer entry.

Things have been pretty quiet around here. We did get some new clothes a few days ago that I will share with you when I'm back online regularly. (She bought the girls a new dress too-- so it's all of us!) We have a new Build-a-Bear friend named Meredith that came to live with us from Goodwill. We haven't been on many new adventures-- mostly because Mom's been bummed about the malfunctioning computer.

I'll get back to posting comments on blogs and the such when we're sure we've got a home connection to the internet. This is from my Grandma's old laptop-- and it died once so it got replaced. Neither Mom or I remember exactly what happened, so we're not going to place all of our hopes on it yet.
