January 1st, 2012

Hurrah! A new year! These things mean much more to humans then they do to teddy bears, but it makes Mom happy if we celebrate. (It’s a much more low key celebration—Mom’s not much of a partying type!)

September 11th, 2010

The most exciting thing to happen around here in the past few days was that Mom took a bunch of us outside on the porch for to take photographs. Mom has revived her Flickr account to post pictures to various teddy bear and doll groups that she had been previously merely browsing. Some of the people who post on the travel and companion doll lists that she lurks on post such lovely pictures. Some of the pictures that she takes of us are very lovely too!

One of the reasons that Mom wanted to take photos was that we have a new friend. It’s been a while since I’ve introduced anyone here.

This is Majorie, a Read Teddy Small-Fry from Build-a-Bear. Mom has been seeing advertisements for them online for a while, but this is the first time that she got to go to the store and buy one. Marjorie came home with us because most of the clothes that they had were for girl bears. But the two outfits for boy bears came home with us too—because Mom thought that Caleb might be the right size.

tn_2010-09-09 Caleb in SmallFry Clothes_edited-1And it turned that Mom was right, but just barely. These clothes were VERY tight on Caleb. Technically, I have the exact same sweatshirt, but in big Build-a-Bear size, so we’re going to be twins! Mom says that it is impressive on how the large head made Marjorie seem to be a lot bigger then Caleb. It doesn’t matter though—everyone is happy!

And because the doll photography is the reason that Mom started to go back to Flickr and look, Tilia and Lindera came outside to get their photos taken. Mom had found these two fancy dresses in a grab bag at a thrift store and wanted to make sure they would fit before she started repairing them.

tn_2010-09-09 Lindera and Tilia_edited-1Sigh, I think we’ve talked enough about clothes! (I write this to make Mom happy—she spends a lot of time making sure that we look nice for the photo session!) Fall is beginning where we live. Some of the trees are beginning to turn colors. In the front yard, we have about a dozen or so apple trees. The apples, which don’t get treated with anything to get rid of the bugs, are ripe now.

tn_2010-09-09 Apple Tree (6)_edited-1Are there any signs of your changing seasons? I’m sure Mom will take plenty of pictures of the changing fall leaves once they start in earnest!

July 19th, 2010

Greetings, everybody! How are you all? Things around here have been quite all right! I am glad that we live on top of a small hill though! It’s been raining a lot around here, and there are some places that are flooded. Not exactly Mississippi level flooding, mind you, but still standing water! The place where my mom works had their parking lot flooded on the night when it was raining! We had quite the creek running through our backyard after it was all done!tn_2010-07-15 Creek Running Through Back Yard (6)_edited-1

The area where we live used to have marshes and swamps surrounding it. As more and more people moved out to the country, they filled in the swamps and the marshes to make more land that was suitable to house building. Unfortunately, that took away the land that the water used to soak into. So now we get overflow—and creeks running through the backyard. Upstream—and further up the road, one person had their entire side yard filled with water! It doesn’t bother Mom and her family too much, because all that gets washed out is grass, but she is sure that it probably irks the people who live upstream because it probably kills their trees!

tn_2010-07-14 Lindera and Tilia (2)_edited-1 Our newest friend here at our house is really not a part of my hug. Mom found her at Goodwill. She bought her for Tilia! Now she has a friend. It turned out that her name is Lindera. She is another Liv Doll.  Tilia lent her some clothes, and they’ve been talking ever since. Tilia seems to enjoy having company! Mom says that they both think that she ought to invite a boy home! (Mom doesn’t think that’s going to happen, but don’t tell them that!) Neither of them seem to be too interested in being travel companions (Tilia was bought to be a travel doll, but it didn’t turn out!), so Caleb doesn’t have anything to worry about. Tilia doesn’t want to mess up her hair, and Lindy seems to be a little worried about getting too far away from Tilia at this point! I’ll post some more pictures later. Tilia likes to get dressed up and have her picture taken, and I would guess that Lindy would too. Sigh, sometimes, girls are so predictable!

Mom says that I have to go to bed now, so I’m going to go upstairs! I hope you all are having a great day! Talk to you later!

September 25th, 2009

Greetings! We’re all more awake and ready to blog around here today. Mom is feeling much better and much more willing to help me type the evening away.  She says that the problem before was merely staying awake for the entire time that I wanted to type. It takes me quite some time to type! I’ve gotten better since I’ve been blogging more often. While it’s not as fast as Mom types, it’s much faster then the hunting and pecking thing I was doing before.

The book that we wanted to share with you is called Waddle! and it is by a gentleman named Rufus Seder. It is on Amazon.com among other places. The pictures move when you open the book and close it. The author has two other books, Gallop! and Swing! but they’re both in black and white. Waddle! is in color! Apparently this gentleman has a company where he sells his art!

tn_2009-09-25 Tilia (3)_edited-1

This is our new friend. Her name is Tilia, and she is a Katie Liv Doll. Mom didn’t know if we should announce her arrival here, since it’s just plushies on here, but I told her that I didn’t mind. She is the only doll in a house full of plushies, so we’re working making her feel welcome. Mom has sort of wanted a poseable doll such as Tilia for a long time, but she was unable to afford the fancy ones that star in some of the blogs that we read. A while ago, on one of the mailing lists that we read, there was a mention that these were coming out! So she ordered one and she’s here. It didn’t take as long as some of the adoptions that we read about, but it was a long enough wait!

tn_2009-09-25 Getting Out_edited-1Caleb took her out with him when Mom went out for Friday night fish and I am afraid it didn’t go too well. She really didn’t like the ride in the purse. She says that she would much rather go for a trip in something a lot more sturdy. Caleb didn’t quite understand why she would care so much—since going on a trip is so exciting. Mom explained to him that sometimes, for girls, keeping tidy is more important than any kind of adventure. Sometimes, I don’t understand girls! I’d love to be able to go out to supper with Mom, even if it’s just in a backpack! I would love to go for the car ride alone! Not to mention all the cool things that would be at the restaurant! But Mom says that everyone finds different things fun, and Tilia doesn’t want to get all messed up! At least Caleb still wants to go. He thinks that all the tumbling around is part of the fun!

tn_2009-09-25 Marlowe_edited-1 This is me in my new shirt. Mom bought it at Target. For a moment, I thought she meant that I was a monster, but she says that it’s just a funny thing. I like the little Frankenstein creature that is the ‘O’ in monsters! Do any of you dress up for Halloween? I don’t have a Halloween costume exactly—I have plenty of t-shirts and the like. One of my bear friends, Sanna, has a Halloween witch costume that I will show you one day. Bentley, our new kennel pal friend, has a glow in the dark cape. Hm. I think those are the only Halloween costumes we have! Maybe we’ll have to fix that! Maybe I could be a wizard for Halloween! Or a firefighter! There are lots of possibilities! Maybe Mom will buy me the Iron Man costume at Build-a-Bear! That would be pretty sweet!
