June 11th, 2014

Mom found some more of our hug and brought them home. She finally got to buy them some clothes, so we can make their reintroduction on my blog.

This is Taft! He is a Build-a-Bear polar bear. He is very tall-- I feel very little indeed when I sit by him.

This is his brother Cleveland. Cleveland is currently wearing Milton's sweatshirt. It's big on Milton but very small on Cleveland! They're both very nice. We can tell them apart because Taft has a shiny nose and Cleveland has a soft nose!

When Mom finds clothes for each member of our hug, we'll reintroduce them here. Next up will be Chloe and Fleur!

June 15th, 2010

Mom recently bought a new movie and we went downstairs to watch it. She saw it in the movie theaters, but wanted to share it with us! This time, I chose Cleveland and Taft to come downstairs with me.

tn_2010-06-10 Watching a Movie Marlowe_edited-1

This is the movie that Mom bought. She saw it in the theater in 3D. We don’t have anything that would make the movie 3D, but we do have a fancy flat screen TV in the kitchen!

tn_2010-06-10 Watching a Movie Cleveland and Taft (3)_edited-1

Cleveland and Taft were fascinated by the movie. We’ve all watched plenty of TV, but this movie was very visually stunning. We decided that our favorite character was Cheshire Cat. (Mom’s favorite was the Mad Hatter!)

We had a lot of fun watching the movie. Did any of you see it? I still like Cars the best, but this is a very good movie!

tn_2010-05-15 Marlowe and the Boys Sitting on the Porch_edited-1Yesterday, Mom took me for a walk to the gas station. She says that I technically entered the gas station, although it was in her backpack. The last time we went for a walk, she went to a park and took me out and I had a nice time in the swing. This time there was a lot of small children around, so Mom didn’t. But I enjoyed the smells and the nice weather anyways!

Today, on the other hand, we went outside! It was time to water the plants on the porch. Mom mostly always takes me when she does things on the porch, and sometimes she takes some of my friends. Today, she took Taft, Cleveland, and Briggs out! Taft and Cleveland were all for it, but Briggs wanted to stay inside and take a nap. Mom and the rest of us convinced him that he ought to go outside to enjoy the nice weather, and he begrudgingly agreed. He ended up enjoying himself, I think—although he is a serious fellow and keeps his emotions close!

tn_2010-05-15 Tulips_edited-1 I know the rest of us had a lot of fun. Mom won’t let us too near the water hose—she says that bear fur and water don’t mix well—and I don’t want to risk any bath or laundry time! She did let me near the camera, and we all discussed and arranged the flowers to take the best photos! We also decided that Mom needs to start planting the plants and flowers that she bought before she should buy any new ones! She’s got quite the backlog!

It’s getting closer to gardening time. The weather has improved over the past two days, and Mom says that it is a good sign that we are getting closer to summer! I want to go outside and plant the vegetables we have and get lots of produce to eat! I can’t wait!

March 18th, 2010

tn_2010-03-16 Cleveland (3) Today I am going to introduce our newest arrival. Cleveland was rescued from our nearby Goodwill. What makes him special—besides his charming personality of course—is that he is a very big bear. Our Build-a-Bear book says that his species—Polar Bear II—tops out at 21 inches or almost 54 centimeters tall. It gives him an introduction to our big boy group. He will join Taft, Briggs, Roscoe, Gulliver, and Elijah. The main benefit of being a bigger bear is that you can wear human baby clothes! (Mostly because they don’t fit in the regular BAB clothes!) Mom bought Cleveland an outfit at Goodwill and he fits into six month old baby clothes! (The other BAB and I only fit preemie and newborn clothes at best!)tn_2010-03-16 Big Boys and Marlowe

When Mom went to BAB, she showed the manager lady our photos. (She has them on her itouch! She wanted to be able to remember which ones she had when she went thrifting!) The lady thought our hug was rather impressive. She told Mom about Briggs—who is a Buddy Bear—and how he got recalled. Larkspur, another of our bears, turns out to be a JC Penny’s exclusive! Look how small I am compared to all the other bears! Elijah is the bear on the left of the picture. He is not BAB but Mom rescued him a very long time ago from a thrift store somewhere. Cleveland and Taft are the white polar bears, while the bear with the soccer t-shirt is Roscoe, our American Eagle bear. Gulliver, a grizzly bear II, is one of our newer arrivals. Briggs is the bear on the right.

Tomorrow, I will tell you all about my outdoor trip on St. Patrick’s Day!

October 21st, 2009

tn_2009-10-21 Marlowe (2)_edited-1 I have decided—well Mom and I have decided what I am going to wear for Halloween. In tribute to my mom’s upcoming college graduation, I am going to be a graduate for Halloween. At Build-a-Bear, Mom found a black cap and gown for me to wear which will be much like hers! The hat doesn’t quite fit, but I don’t think it would really fit anyone around here—at least without bobby pins and a great deal of luck. Since my fur isn’t really long enough to keep a bobby pin in, I’m going to have to deal with the awkward hat! Mom says that on Halloween, I can wear some of my fancy shoes and it will make it seem even more official!

Mom had her chemistry mid-term tonight. This will give her a weekend off chemistry homework, and therefore a weekend off from my duties as a homework bear. It will give me time to get to know some of our new bears. Mom has brought Taft downstairs today. He told us about some of the stories that he had from previous homes. Taft says that his last home was a very nice place, but the little boy who made him got too old for bears. He said that he used to miss the little boy when he was waiting at Goodwill, but he’s glad that Mom found him. Mom says that he is safe here and will not get sent to Goodwill. She mentioned that she would try to find him a new shirt to wear, and that made him smile. He’s been wearing the same clothes since he came here—but we’ve got plenty to share. A new set of clothing is a good way to brighten up the day!

It’s been raining around here again. Mom made some thoughts about taking me outside, but the weather has not cooperated at all. While I do have a raincoat, I don’t think it would keep my head dry enough for Mom’s liking.  Hopefully the weather will be nice soon and I can go outside and have myself an adventure. Have any of you gone on an adventure lately?

August 23rd, 2009

tn_2009-08-22 Lotus_edited-1Last night, she went thrifting and came home with two new friends.  One of our new friends is Lotus. She is a Champs Build-a-Bear. If you made a Champs bear at Build-a-Bear, some money was donated to a children’s charity. Mom found her that dress in her supply of bear-sized clothes. It has ducks on it! Lotus says that she is glad to find a new home. She thinks that it is cool that she is going to be able to make so many new friends. Taft, one of our resident bears, says that he will watch over her until she gets settled. I usually wouldn’t introduce someone so brand new until they got settled, but I thought it wouldn’t be fair to introduce the next teddy without introducing Lotus first.
tn_2009-08-22 Briggs_edited-1I now would like to introduce Briggs. I am introducing him here because I was wondering if any of you knew what kind of Build-a-Bear he was. He has the proper tag, but Mom has never seen him. A lot of my Build-a-Bear friends have species name—like how Lotus is a Champ bear. (I was bought at Steins, so I don’t have a species name.) But since Mom has never seen the kind of bear that Briggs is before, he doesn’t. She thought if I introduced him here that one of you guys might know. She does have a Build-a-Bear book that she can consult--- once she finds it! Briggs has quite easily fit in with our big boy bears. That’s what I call them. tn_2009-08-22 Briggs and Marlowe_edited-1They’re almost twice my size! Most of the Build-a-Bear plushies can fit all the same clothes, but not these guys. Mom bought a little boy’s shirt just for Briggs so he’d have something to wear! If you notice, he’s pretty much too big around for that shirt even! I introduced Briggs to other big boy bears.
Roscoe is an American Eagle bear that Mom found at Goodwill a long time ago. He likes playing soccer. In fact, if anyone wants to play any kind of outdoor game, he is ready. We’ve played baseball outside for hours! Roscoe came to our family wearing a rugby shirt and holding a duffle bag. Mom gave him this soccer t-shirt because it fit him much better.Taft is a standing polar bear Build-a-Bear. (We also have Sullivan, who is a Build-a-Bear polar bear, but he stands on four feet.)  tn_2009-08-22 Roscoe, Briggs, and Taft_edited-1Mom thought that he was the biggest Build-a-Bear that they made! He’s almost as big as Briggs, but not quite. Mom thinks he’s probably taller then Briggs, but Briggs certainly has more heft! It’s an okay thing for a teddy bear to have. It’s much more to hug! But everyone’s special in their own way, so we’re all needed.
We wanted to write a long-ish entry because on Tuesday, Mom goes back to school. There is still plenty of time for hugs and attention, since we all can sit with her when she does her homework. There won’t be quite as much time to blogging time though, since she should be working on her homework when she is sitting on the computer. It’s actually part of our job as plushies to make sure she stays on task!
