tn_2010-04-10 Spring in Wisconsin

It snowed a few days ago around here. We woke up one morning and there was snow on the ground and on the trees! Fortunately, it has all melted and spring has returned! It seemed to confuse the songbirds that had arrived back in Wisconsin! All of a sudden there was a lot of white stuff on the ground! There are a lot of places around here that the birds can hide to keep warm, so Mom says that it didn’t bother them as much as I thought it would.

On BearPlace, there was a post about bald eagles. It led me to think about what was my favorite bird. Mom and I thought that I could limit to wild birds that live in my area. After a bit of thought, I decided that blue jays were my favorite wild bird. Have you ever seen one? We live out in the country—well, sort of country, and some nesting pairs of blue jays live nearby. They have had several successful years of baby raising, so we have quite a few of them! What is your favorite bird? It doesn’t have to be wild where you live—it was just a way to narrow down my choices! I love all sorts of different birds!

  1. I love ravens, but those aren't living here sadly enough. I also really like crows and chickens.

  2. That's a very beautiful bird! We don't have them here... I like a robin a lot because it's a bit rd like me!

  3. Snow? Cool! No school!

Favorite bird? Petey the Pigeon. Back when it was just Axlerod, Spaulding and Lady, Mommy used to leave Spaulding upstairs on her bed all day.

Well, a guy can get bored, so I (Spaulding) heard clicking noises on the window air conditioning. I went to check, and it was a pigeon named Petey. Petey offered me a ride, and Mommy wasn't gonna come up any time soon, so he showed me the neighborhood from a bird's eye view, literally. He introduced me to his family (big family), and we've been friends ever since. I'd know nothing about my neighborhood if it weren't for Petey.

  4. Hey Marlowe!
We bears read your blog almost every day. We came across another bear doctor, and thought of you. Are you still looking for one? This place looks really safe and professional.
