Real-life has barred me from posting in the blog like I'd like to. That's what Mom says it is. She says that if we could figure out a way to post here from her livejournal client, we could post much more often. I'm not sure what she means, but I figure she knows what she's talking about.

Things still have been awfully quiet around here. Our family has increased by leaps and bounds. We've got a new elephant friend, several new doggie friends, and a few new bear friends. Mom says that we can post things about them on Thursday, which is her next day off.

My Story

My name is Marlowe Theodore Bear. I am a teddy bear-- a boy teddy bear to be exact. I am six years old in bear years. I live with my mom in a house on top of a hill. I have a sister named Chloe and many friends. My mom lets me play on the computer sometimes. I go on the internet-thingie and see all these teddies who have written their life stories on their web pages. Mom says that I can write my own and post it on my blog!

I don't really remember a lot of my babyhood. The first thing I remember is sitting on the shelf of the plant store that my mom's mom bought me. Mom says it was called Steins. I remember watching some my brothers and sisters leave-- and I was waiting for the right person to pick me up and bring me home. It was lonely on the shelf waiting, but I knew that there had to be someone out there for me. I was very glad when my mom's mom picked me out of the teddies to bring me home. She then put me in a box and wrapped me up. I didn't understand why I had to go back into a box. It turned out that I was going to be a Christmas present for my mom-- although I didn't understand exactly what that was yet!

I spent a few days inside the box. It was somewhat stuffy in there, but I could hear all sorts of interesting things happening around my box. Mom finally opened my box and welcomed me into her family. She named me Marlowe after a character in her favorite book! Then my big life as Marlowe Theodore Bear started!

Mom and I connected right away. She says that there was just something about me. I say it is my cuteness, but she says that it was something deeper then that. She says that from the very first day that I slept with her at night, she slept more soundly. She says that I comfort her when her day goes bad-- I tell her that is part of any teddy bear's job. She tells me that I do an especially good job at it. I tell her that she does an especially good job of taking care of me!

I like all sorts of different things. I love books—I will read about almost anything. I especially like books on cars, trains, and planes. My favorite book right now, although I know it has nothing to do with any of them, is Make Way for Ducklings, by Robert McCloskey, mostly because I like ducks and I like the idea of going and visiting the statues in Boston some day. I also like looking at atlases and maps—I like to plan trips that someday Mom and I might take. I especially like my Mom’s gazetteer, because I can pick out which road we live on! I like going outside and listening to the birds and feeling the breeze. Sometimes, Mom takes me out to the garden and I get to help her play in the dirt. I also like taking pictures of Mom’s pretty flowers. I listen to all sorts of different music with Mom and watch movies with her. I especially like the Disney movie Cars! I browse the internet with my Mom, generally looking for new books to read, new websites to browse through, and new blogs written by other plushies! The only sport I really like is baseball. Someday, I want to go and see a game! I mostly like to spend time with my Mom and my friends!

We're back!!!

January 23rd, 2007

My mom is on vacation! She's been spending lots of time with us. She's been reading us books, letting us listen to whatever music we want to, and having lots of snuggles! It's been lots of fun. I've been helping her with her math. She's taking algebra at the local technical college for her degree. Being a bear makes lots of subjects easy for me, and math just happens to be one of them! I like algebra-- with all the neat rows of numbers and letters. It's a lot easier for me to tell Mom what to write though! Bear paws don't work well with pencils!

Then for her social studies class, we read a chapter on the US Constitution and took notes. I don't mind history at all-- especially American history, but it was kind of boring! She says that the book moves quickly onto more current subjects, so I'm glad about that!

January 13, 2007

It's been ages since I last posted. My mom works at a bookstore and it's really, really, really, really busy during the holidays. She's been way too tired to do any posting-- and since I'm part of her naps, neither have I! The typing thing is very hard when you're a bear, so I wait for her. This time, we waited four whole months!

Things have been pretty calm around here. Mom brought home a new Build-A-Bear. She's a little puppy and her name is Gracie. She's got a shiny collar that the girls think is really cool. She's sort of a Christmas present from our Mom's sister. She got her some gift cards from BAB and Gracie is what Mom spent them on. She'd post here, but she only speaks Dog. Right now, we haven't really figured out how to translate it to English yet!

August 22nd, 2006

Today was a very quiet day. Mom came home after work, and showed us our new book. It's called Dooby Dooby Moo, and it's by the same lady who wrote Click, Clack Moo, Cows that Type. It's really funny. I like the part where the duck sings the most. Mom doesn't quite know how you quack 'Born to be Wild', but she says that we can try all we want. Maybe we need to ask a duck.

August 8th, 2006

My mom has some time right now to help me type a new blog entry. I do like this blog thing. There aren't many places that teddies can write out their feelings like this. Writing things by hand takes me even longer then typing. I've gotten pretty good at hunting and pecking letters on the keyboard. Mom being here makes this much easier!

I've seemed to forget to introduce more of our new friends. So I'm going to start all over again.

Ambrose is a bear that Mom found at Goodwill. Mom says that he's a Build-a-Bear Bearamy plushie. He says that he lived with a little boy who had lots and lots of teddy bears. The little boy's Mom tossed Ambrose into the Goodwill bag by mistake. He says that he hopes that the little boy found a new teddy to love. He's glad though that he found a new home here. He likes all his new friends! Ambrose is interested in airplanes, birds, dinosaurs, and our pet lizard, Shakespeare. The little boy he lived with before was too young to read, so Robinson and I are teaching him how to read.

The next new friend is Fleur. Mom brought her home from Build-a-Bear. She's Chloe's new friend. Charlotte, Fleur, Opal, and Chloe talk about girly things now for hours. Fleur likes reading about other animals, princess stories, and crafts. She helps Mom make clothes for all of us. She helped Mom make a blanket for one of the little plush horses that she bought. I'm glad that Chloe has someone to talk to now. For a long time it was just all boys! Then Charlotte came, and then Opal, and now Fleur! With the new boys from Goodwill, we're even! Mom says that we're going to have enough friends soon to start a football team! I'd much rather play baseball.

Our next new friend is Friday. He's Robinson's cousin. Mom found him at Goodwill. He was excited to find out that Robinson lived with us! He's too small to be able to read all by himself yet, so we all read to him. He likes books with plenty of pictures of trucks and trains. Sometimes he'll run around the room with our toy fire engine for hours! He also likes to watch for the big trucks that drive past. Fleur and Ambrose watch out for him when Mom's not around. He likes to get stuck in strange places, like under the bed or under Mom's sewing table.

Milton is our newest friend. Mom picked him up at Build-a-Bear a week or so ago. Milton is older then the rest of us. He reads harder chapter books out loud to us. He helps Friday with the names of the cars and trucks that zoom by. He's still a little shy with the rest of us, but we all are trying to make him feel at home. He's helping Mom and I with the blog entry right now-- and he's enjoying helping! I hope that he learns to like the rest of us soon! Pieces of chocolate seem to be helping!

Nate is another bear that Mom rescued from Goodwill. Nate says that he was bought as a present for an older child who didn't like teddies. He was glad when Mom found him. He likes to watch the birds with me. He knows the names of some different birds, so that's fun. He came to our house wearing a golf t-shirt, but doesn't really like the game. He was also glad when Mom got him a new shirt! He'd much rather watch sports then play them. He likes birds, bugs, and sitting in the sun.

Opal has been here for a while. She's a Build-a-Bear chicken that Mom brought home around Easter. She enjoys talking to Chloe, Charlotte, and Fleur about girly things, but also likes to play around in the mud with the boys when Mom will let her. (She's got new clothes!) She likes the chicken and duck books that Mom brings home with her. She's the one that had to have a little surgery done on her foot when the string broke! It's all healed up now!

I am going to post this before it somehow disappears. But these are all our new friends!
