We all hope you have a great day and lots of good tasting food!
Mom and I wanted to leave a little note here. Grandma (Mom’s mom) is all right. She did another round of chemo. At the end of this round, she got another CAT scan. There is one nodule left and it was half gone. Her cancer doctor needs to talk to another cancer doctor who is in Madison. They gave her a month off all kinds of doctors. In March, she is going to have another appointment to see what they have decided. They may give her some medicine that will hopefully stop the nodule from getting any bigger. That way she won’t have to go through any more chemo! My mom was hoping for no more cancer at all, but she will take whatever she can get.
On a more positive note, Mom and I are learning Dutch on Duolingo. Some of you might know that Mom’s interested in her genealogy. She got pretty far in learning Dutch on Livemocha a long time ago. They don’t have an ipad app, so she stopped when she got her ipad. But Duolingo does, and we’ve been having a lot of fun. Mom says that it will take some courage, but maybe some day we will post something in Dutch!
Hope you all are having a good day!
I am in Mom’s backpack while we wait with her Mom at in the infusion room for her chemo. Mom and I thought that we ought to stop by here for a minute and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We both love all the Christmas cards that people’ve been sending us. Mom has a lot of them written up, but she’s got to finish it and take them to the post office! They’re going to be late, but it’s about all the Christmas spirit she can muster! (She works retail and it’s been mighty crazy!)
Talk to you all later!
So this year seems to be the year of the crisis for our family. Maybe crisis is a strong word, but it’s certainly been one of those years.
My mom, Oliver, my plushie family, the AG dolls, and the BJD kids are all right. Mom found Atticus, a Harmony Club Cameron doll. She found Mols. The BJD kids have a dollhouse now to live in—they’re very fond of not having to live in a box! So that’s all good!
Mom’s sister has announced that she is going to have a baby! She’s going to be due sometime in June! It’s a long time away, but it’s still something that we’re planning for!
But now for the bad news—Mom’s mom—our grandma (although Mom’s not sure what she would think of us calling her that!) has been diagnosed with cancer. It’s a tumor inside her lung. It definitely is treatable and she’s been doing great with all the stuff that’s been happening. It’s four days of treatment, three weeks off, and another four days of treatment. She has to go six times. Mom has been going with her when she can. She takes me with and I sit in her backpack near the chair for emotional support. It’s done in a large room with lots of chairs and people so I stay in the backpack. She’s not a terribly big fan of all the noise and the people talking—so I’m glad I get to go with!
That’s why we haven’t been posting so much. Mom and I felt like you all should know—you’re all such nice people! We hope you’re all having a good day and we’ll talk to you soon!
