March 19th, 2010

Mom took me outside on St. Patrick’s Day when she was walking the dog around the property. It has been incredibly nice in Wisconsin lately, especially since it is just March. It has been around 55-60 degrees Fahrenheit (or 12-16 degrees Celsius). Mom says that March is usually cold and still rather snowy.

tn_2010-03-17 Marlowe (3) First we sat out on the porch for a while. It was such a pretty day that we wanted to listen to the birds. Mom pointed out the differences between the morning doves and the red-winged blackbirds.

tn_2010-03-17 Marlowe (4)I told Mom that I wanted to climb the tree, and she helped me up. But once I got up there, I was pretty scared! Mom was there all the time, so I wasn’t in any danger, but it’s awfully high up there!

tn_2010-03-17 Marlowe (5)After a bit, I got my courage back up again and let Mom take a picture of me. I like this tree—it’s a silver maple and it’s rather old.

tn_2010-03-17 Marlowe (6)  After a bit of walking around, we went and sat on the benches on the porch and listened to the birds some more. It was a very nice day. It’s sad that sometime this weekend that real Wisconsin March weather is supposed to come back! But spring will soon arrive for good and we will have more of these nice days to look forward to!

tn_GoingDownstairs102305 When I checked my blogger dashboard today, I noticed that this will be my 100th post! It has taken me nearly four years and plenty of hiatuses to get here! I think it’s a cause for celebration! My first blog entry was on October 25, 2005.  It’s amazing how many things have changed since then. At that point, my plushie family was Chloe, Charlotte, and Robinson. Now I’ve got plenty more friends and Foster came home to be my brother! This is one of the first pictures that Mom took of me. It’s dated October 23rd, 2005. When I came to live with Mom, she didn’t have a camera. This picture was taken with her first digital camera—it was a clearance model she bought at her work. Her current one takes much better pictures! Maybe I can convince her to take a redo of this photo now, four years later!

At that point, I didn’t have any people reading my blog. It was just for me and my mom. Now all you guys read it. I also have made many more friends online. It is a much bigger world then I ever thought was possible! I would have never thought that so many plushies have blogs, Twitter pages, and Facebook pages! It’s amazing what else could be out there waiting for me to find it!

September 9th, 2009

A few days ago, Mom had Chloe, Foster, and myself downstairs to watch television and read books together. I thought that we should get our picture taken together! Foster is my older brother and Chloe is our little sister. Please pardon the clothes—it was late at night and we were mostly ready for bed! tn_2009-09-07 Marlowe and Siblings_edited-1 I think you can see the similarities between Foster and I, but not Chloe too much. Mom says that it is probably a good thing—you wouldn’t want a girl bear to look too much like a boy. Chloe says that she takes after our mom’s side of the family—and we obviously take after our dad’s. I really don’t know how that works, but I guess it really doesn’t matter.

On the Bear Club website, there are monthly photo challenges. There are ten different things, each given a difficulty factor. Mom says that we probably won’t do all of them but it is fun to try. This month’s photo challenges range from getting your photo taken next to a grandfather clock (which is one that we did) to getting tickled by an older person. It’s kind of fun to see other bears’ photos! Some of the bears get to go outside—one of them got to go to a fair to get their picture taken on a fair-ride! I would love to go to a fair! Have any of you been to a fair? I would love to be able to se the animals! I don’t think there would be wild bears there, but there would be plenty of different farm animals. I do like horses, cows, and poultry.

August 28th, 2009

Mom just finished her paper on the hydrologic cycle, so her reward is to post!

tn_2009-08-28 Marlowe and Pizza (2)_edited-1 We just had supper. Mom shared her personal sized pizza with me. I wanted to be able to cut it up, but she reminded me on how much I want to avoid baths and washing machines. It was really good. I love pizza. Mom says that she wishes it was better for her, but I don’t think teddies have to bother about things like that. We shared some with the dog—and Mom knows that dogs shouldn’t have people food, but neither Princess or Mom cares too much. Princess mostly just likes the tomato sauce anyways! I like the pepperoni. And the cheese. Especially the cheese. Mom thinks that it makes me a Wisconsin teddy bear. Wisconsin is known for our dairy products!

Mom was finished with one homework assignment. Tomorrow holds more homework, but she wanted to do something interesting. I’m glad that most of my homework is quick! I guess I don’t have too much homework—at least compared to Mom’s. Maybe after Mom finishes her homework tomorrow, she can take a picture of us at school!

August 26th 2009

Some of my friends here on Blogger have tagged me in a meme. Mom sometimes does these on her LiveJournal, so I guess it is cool that I am going to finish one here.

tn_2007-06-19 Windsor 1. Who is the hottest movie star?- Mom had to explain to me what ‘hottest’ meant when it was about a person or a bear. I thought that maybe the word movie was misplaced and I was supposed to figure out who was the hottest star! I didn’t know where I was going to find that out! But the hottest movie star—hm—there aren’t really many girl bears in movies—they’re mostly boys like Paddington or Winnie the Pooh. We’ve got one of Winnie the Pooh’s stand ins living with us—Windsor! So I guess I’m going to answer who is the most popular movie star? My answer is Winnie the Pooh!

2. Apart from your house and car, what is the most important item you have acquired?- I’m currently very fond of my bomber jacket—but I guess overall, the most important item I’ve acquired is this blog. Despite the fact that I don’t always blog, it is important to me to write things that have been happening in my life! Mom says that Caleb is my friend and not an item to be acquired—it’s good that Mom is good with words!

3. What is your most treasured memory?- My most treasured memory is probably when I realized that Mom was going to keep me as her special bear. I really didn’t mind being at Steins too much with my  bear brothers and sisters, but being at a home with someone who loves you is the best place to be. I’m now surrounded by many plushie brothers and sisters and friends, so I’m a very happy bear!

4. What is the best gift you received as a child?- I’m still a child—although in a bear way, so I guess I’m going to talk about what is my favorite gift now. I think it’s kind of hard to pin it down—I do love getting presents! I think I liked my bear passport that mom got from Build-a-Bear the most. It doesn’t have many stamps, but it is sort of a wish of mine to travel!

5. What is the biggest mistake you have ever made?- I don’t really get out a lot to be able to make a lot of mistakes. I’m a pretty cautious bear, so I don’t get lost very often. I think a better question is what do you think would be the biggest mistake you could make. To me, that would be making some kind of decision that would result me into getting lost! I don’t ever want to be sent to the thrift store! Or someplace even worse!

6. What are four words that would describe you?- Hm. Four words! Patient, soft, loyal, and smart!tn_2009-06-27 Foster_edited-1

7. What would be the highlight or low-light of the year 2008?- I think the highlight of 2008 would be finding Mom finding Foster, my brother at at Goodwill. I am glad that he came and lived with us! I don’t want to talk about any bad things on the blog! And since this meme thing is voluntary, no one can make me!

8. What is your favorite film?- My favorite film is the Disney/Pixar movie Cars! I can watch that movie over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

9. Tell us one thing that you haven’t said on the blog?- Because I don’t think anyone—unless you went back and read all my blog entries—really knows that much about me! I don’t like sitting out by myself—I worry that someone or something will knock me over and I will get trampled on by the dog. She doesn’t mean to hurt teddies, but she’s not very graceful!

10. If you were a comic book or strip character, who would you be?- This is hard! I guess it would depend if you got all the superpowers that came with the character. Mom says that I am thinking too much about it and I should just answer! I guess I would want to be Iron Man! (Although now that I went to that link, I’m not quite so sure!)

And now I am not going to tag anyone, but I hope someone does this too! Maybe we should think up a teddy-themed one for everyone to do!

My Story

My name is Marlowe Theodore Bear. I am a teddy bear-- a boy teddy bear to be exact. I am six years old in bear years. I live with my mom in a house on top of a hill. I have a sister named Chloe and many friends. My mom lets me play on the computer sometimes. I go on the internet-thingie and see all these teddies who have written their life stories on their web pages. Mom says that I can write my own and post it on my blog!

I don't really remember a lot of my babyhood. The first thing I remember is sitting on the shelf of the plant store that my mom's mom bought me. Mom says it was called Steins. I remember watching some my brothers and sisters leave-- and I was waiting for the right person to pick me up and bring me home. It was lonely on the shelf waiting, but I knew that there had to be someone out there for me. I was very glad when my mom's mom picked me out of the teddies to bring me home. She then put me in a box and wrapped me up. I didn't understand why I had to go back into a box. It turned out that I was going to be a Christmas present for my mom-- although I didn't understand exactly what that was yet!

I spent a few days inside the box. It was somewhat stuffy in there, but I could hear all sorts of interesting things happening around my box. Mom finally opened my box and welcomed me into her family. She named me Marlowe after a character in her favorite book! Then my big life as Marlowe Theodore Bear started!

Mom and I connected right away. She says that there was just something about me. I say it is my cuteness, but she says that it was something deeper then that. She says that from the very first day that I slept with her at night, she slept more soundly. She says that I comfort her when her day goes bad-- I tell her that is part of any teddy bear's job. She tells me that I do an especially good job at it. I tell her that she does an especially good job of taking care of me!

I like all sorts of different things. I love books—I will read about almost anything. I especially like books on cars, trains, and planes. My favorite book right now, although I know it has nothing to do with any of them, is Make Way for Ducklings, by Robert McCloskey, mostly because I like ducks and I like the idea of going and visiting the statues in Boston some day. I also like looking at atlases and maps—I like to plan trips that someday Mom and I might take. I especially like my Mom’s gazetteer, because I can pick out which road we live on! I like going outside and listening to the birds and feeling the breeze. Sometimes, Mom takes me out to the garden and I get to help her play in the dirt. I also like taking pictures of Mom’s pretty flowers. I listen to all sorts of different music with Mom and watch movies with her. I especially like the Disney movie Cars! I browse the internet with my Mom, generally looking for new books to read, new websites to browse through, and new blogs written by other plushies! The only sport I really like is baseball. Someday, I want to go and see a game! I mostly like to spend time with my Mom and my friends!
