Hallo! How is everybody? I had a pretty quiet week! I thought I would share some more pictures from the zoo.

This is a screech owl. It turns out that there are a lot of different kinds of screech owls. I like looking up Wikipedia articles on the things I post, and it turns out that there’s over twenty different kinds! Mom said she didn’t know if he or she was angry that she took the picture or just surprised.

These are two giant Flemish rabbits. Mom thought that maybe some times you could pet them. (There weren’t any employees in the children’s zoo area when they were there.) Mom and Grandma have decided that they need to bring Graham to the zoo at the end of the road so he can pet animals!
It’s time to work on Mom’s daily stuff, so I have to stop here. I hope you’re all having a great day!

Hallo! How is everyone!? Things are all right around here. This past week was Mom’s birthday. She took her nephew and some of her friends to the zoo in Green Bay. It’s called the NEW Zoo. She decided to do something called a wild encounter with the giraffes.

These are the giraffes. They were very friendly.

Even Graham fed them! Aren’t they huge! Mom was impressed how big they were when you were up close! Look how big his head is!

They were very friendly, and it made Mom a happy camper!

They also walked around the zoo. It was kind of cold and windy.

One of the peacocks was still willing to show off his fancy feathers.
Mom had a lot of fun, which is important for a birthday! Do any of you go to a zoo? We like going to zoos?

Last Saturday, Mom and one of her friends went to the Bay Area Porcelain Doll Show. It was more of a meetup for the people of the club, but it was still fun. Mom took Ash, Adelaide, Wren, Raven, and Lark. (Molly went with, but she had to stay in the car with us because Mom couldn’t hold all of them.) Mom bought a new dress for Wren.

Lots of people asked about Ash. They did all mention that he’s a bit short, which hurt his feelings a bit!
Mom buys the crochet dresses from the same lady year after year. This time, she got Wren a dress in a darker purple.

It is nice because she remembers Mom and the BJD family. She also had tiny dolls—like made of clay or something like that. When they came dressed, they were out of Mom’s price range, but it turned out that there was a very tiny teddy bear that wasn’t—but she’d already bought the dress. Oh well. There’s always next year!
Are there any gatherings like this in your area? I think it would be grand to go to more things like this. (Mom doesn’t always agree with me on that!) Talk to you next week!

My mom and the BJD kids went to another meet-up last weekend. I thought I would share a few pictures because I know that there are people who read my blog who like the BJD kids like Mom! Caleb went with too—since he is her travel bear!

This time it was a little distance away. This meant that Mom and her friend had to start earlier. While Mom is a morning person, her friend is not, so that started the day a little late!

This time, Mom didn’t take as many pictures. There were a lot of people there and not a lot of room. Mom isn’t very fond of pushing her way into groups of people, so she made do! On the Flickr photo page, you can see the dolls much better!

Wren and Raven did get to meet someone as tiny as they were. This is apparently a little boy vampire. Mom said that she didn’t quite understand how he got dressed up in a dress with purple shoes, but it doesn’t really matter!

This is what Mom worked on while everyone else was sewing and such. She bought Wren and Lark an itty bitty sewing machine a while ago, and decided that they need some supplies! So now they have their own fabric stash!

Mom wants me to tell Bob T. Bear that Build-a-Bear makes clothes for smaller bears. They’re part of their SmallFry collection. The bears that you get from BAB are only about six inches tall, but they’re for rather rotund bears. They might fit an eight inch bear too. They fit Caleb, but they’re rather tight!

Mom remembered that we haven’t shared her zoo pictures here yet, so that’s going to be the next blog entry! She went with her sister and Caleb to the zoo a few weeks ago and took lots of pretty pictures!

A few weeks ago, Mom and Caleb went to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay. I love trains and I wish I could have gone! But these pictures almost make up for it!

Outside the museum itself, there is a huge shed that they keep more trains in. It was rather dark and everything was covered in layers of dust! Some of the trains are in need of restoration, but it is better then sitting outside all year long.

There really wasn’t a lot of labels, so Mom is not sure which train is which. Oddly enough, there is more information on Wikipedia about which train is which then on the museum’s website!

This is the full sized Aerotrain from the other post. It looks kind of like a car to me! Maybe like a rocket ship! There were several cars behind it.

This was a train without a label. Mom thinks it is from the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad. It is a steam train.

This is a boxcar that Mom liked because it was from Wisconsin. Wikipedia says that it is a replica though.

Wikipedia says that this is a tank car that used to hold vinegar. That would be a lot of vinegar!

And because every train blog post should end with a caboose, here is a picture of an Illinois Central wide version caboose, pulled by a Manistique and Lake Superior Railroad Alco S-3 engine.

I hope some of you enjoyed my train pictures as much as I did! I love trains! They’re so big!

A few weeks ago, Mom and Caleb went to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin to look at trains. I wish I could have gone with, but these pictures almost make up for it!

This time we are going to show pictures of the trains that are in a huge building. These are the trains that they’ve cleaned the outsides. There actually were a few of them that you could go inside and look too!

This is the Dwight D. Eisenhower, a steam locomotive that General Eisenhower used to travel around Great Britain and Europe during World War II.

Caleb really liked the logo!

This is the Union Pacific Big Boy. It is the longest steam train ever made. It is 134 feet (41 meters) long and weighs 1.25 million pounds (0.6 million kilograms).

Mom says that it was HUGE.

This is a Pennsylvania Railroad CG1. It is an electric train!

That is how it connected to the power lines above the rail lines.

Next time, we’ll show you pictures of the trains that were left outside in a covered shed.

A few weeks ago, Mom and Caleb went on another trip. This time they went to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay. I love trains! I wish I could have gone, but these pictures almost make up for it!

My mom went here when she was a little girl. The outside looks pretty much the same, but the inside has changed a lot! There were three different parts of the museum. We’re going to show the pictures from the first part today.

This is a diorama detailing the making of the railroad. Mom liked the horses in the background.

They had a few models of trains. There are different scales of train models, so they’re different sizes.

This was about as old as they got. Mom thought that they should have more about the history of railroading, rather then the railroad after the 1900s.

This one was pretty cool. They had the full sized engine and a few cars outside! It was called the Aerotrain.

These are called drumheads. On the back of a train’s caboose, they had a neon size that proclaimed the name of the train. A man named Frederick Bauer collected them and donated it to the museum.

This was Mom’s favorite!
Next time, I’ll tell you about the big trains that are inside the building. They are all cleaned up and shiny!
